Your Instructor

Samantha McLeod, MN, RN, IBCLC

Samantha lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where she works as a Registered Nurse and Lactation Consultant in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She began her nursing career at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where she learned the value of family-centered care and evidence-based practice in a high-performance clinical setting. She then joined Postpartum Community Services as a public health nurse providing support to moms and newborns, often in at-risk communities. Concerned by the lack of quality breastfeeding resources made available to moms from hospital to home, Samantha was inspired to become an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) so that she could help moms develop the comfort and confidence necessary to achieve their goals.

Samantha holds a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary. Her thesis examines the impact of breastfeeding on preterm infants, and she hopes that this research will lead to positive policy changes in the field of infant health.
